Cloud engineering

Infrastructure nobody has to think about.

Good cloud infrastructure is invisible. Deploys are boring, the bill is predictable, an incident pages the right person with the right information, and none of it depends on the one engineer who set it up. We design, build and run cloud infrastructure for the products we build and for teams whose product has outgrown what they started with.

We prefer managed services over bespoke ones and fewer moving parts over more, because the cost of infrastructure is mostly the cost of understanding it later.

Deliverables

  • AWS
  • Google Cloud
  • Vercel
  • Terraform
  • CI/CD
  • Monitoring

What it covers

Architecture and migration

Infrastructure designed around how the product is actually used, and migrations planned so they happen without a maintenance window.

Infrastructure as code

Every environment reproducible from a repository, reviewed like application code, with no configuration that lives only in a console.

Delivery pipelines

CI/CD that runs tests, builds artefacts and deploys to preview and production, so releasing becomes something the team does several times a day.

Observability and cost

Logging, metrics, tracing and alerts that describe the product rather than the machines, and a bill that is reviewed as a design input.

How it runs

  1. 01

    Map what runs

An inventory of services, dependencies, costs and failure modes. Most infrastructure problems are visible in the first week of looking.

  2. 02

    Change in small steps

Each improvement is shipped on its own and verified in production before the next, so nothing is bet on a single cut-over.

  3. 03

    Run it with you

Runbooks, alerts routed to real people, and a handover where your team makes the changes while we watch.

FAQ

Questions about this work.

The things people ask about this kind of engagement before the first call.

  • AWS, Google Cloud and Vercel most often, and we are comfortable in Azure and on bare virtual machines where a client already runs there. The provider matters less than keeping the setup simple enough for your team to own.
