Maintenance & support

The last ten percent, every month.

Software is not finished at launch. Dependencies age, platforms change their rules, traffic grows, and the small bugs that nobody had time for become the ones your customers mention. Maintenance and support is the work of keeping a product healthy after the project ends, done by people who know the codebase rather than a rotating ticket queue.

We support products we built and products we did not, on a monthly retainer sized to the product, with monitoring that pages a person and a response time we put in writing.

What affects the priceEstimate your project

What it covers

Monitoring and incident response

Uptime, error and performance monitoring with alerts routed to real people, and an agreed response time for when something breaks.

Updates and security

Dependency updates, framework upgrades, platform changes and security patches applied on a schedule rather than in a panic.

Modernisation

Incremental improvement of an ageing codebase: migrating frameworks, retiring dead code and paying down the debt that slows every new feature.

Small changes and improvements

A monthly allowance of engineering and design time for the fixes and tweaks that never justify a project of their own.

How it runs

  1. 01

    Audit and onboard

A review of the codebase, infrastructure and risks, and monitoring put in place, so support starts from a known state.

  2. 02

    A monthly rhythm

Scheduled updates, a prioritised backlog of improvements, and a short monthly report of what changed and what to watch.

  3. 03

    Scale up or down

Retainers are sized to the product and reviewed quarterly, so support grows with the product and shrinks when it is stable.

FAQ

Questions about this work.

The things people ask about this kind of engagement before the first call.

  • Yes. We start with an audit to understand the codebase and its risks, then take on support once monitoring and access are in place. A product built elsewhere is common, and the audit usually pays for itself in the first few months.
